Young Media Critic co-host , Jakiyah, joined Juanita Richburg Seon in a conversation about Teen Leaders and Teen Followers.
Ms. Seon started out with the definition of a follower: " one who subscribes to the teachings of others; a servant. She then asked Jakiyah, why did she think some teens leaders and some followers? Jakiyah said that everyone wants to fit in and that some kids are followers because of peer pressure to belong to a group. Jakiyah indicated that everyone has his or her own group.
Ms. Seon want to know how does one know what group to "fit" into? Jakiyah share that she gets along with everybody and she has no problem with fitting in. She does play basketball so she is a part of that particular group. When asked by Ms. Seon why did she think some students follow other students, Jakiyah pointed to low self esteem. She said some young people need some one to tell them what to do all the time. They are not able to make decisions on their own.
When Ms. Seon asked Jakiyah about born leaders, her reply was that there are good leaders and there are bad leaders.
